Thanks, Sally, and congratulations on those short story sales! I find stepping out of the comfort zone often means following our heart. A little voice inside tells us what we should do, but sometimes it feels easier/safer to ignore it. Good luck with moving forwards!

I am trying to complete a first novel now I have retired. It was started a few years before that and would have been topical recently as it is set in WW1 and present day. I have been dithering over abandoning it and started afresh but after reading your blog, I am inspired to carry on. I think it’s very helpful to share the scary stuff, and not just give the impression it’s all about writing in cafes like J K Rowling.
